On his latest album rapper Jonah Sorrentino (aka KJ-52) collaborates with long-time associate and co-founder of Gotee Records, Todd Collins and ex-Grammatrain and Tait guitarist, Pete Stewart, labouring under the moniker Peace Of Mind. Truly a studio project - apparently Stewart and KJ-52 didn't even meet during the recording process - the main ingredients are hip-hop and rock, with elements of reggae and electronica thrown in for good measure. The album grabs the attention from the blistering opener “Turn It Up to the Eminem-influenced “Crucify which closes the album. KJ-52 may rap like Eminem (no bad thing) but his message is positive and uncompromising, a message of hope, healing and forgiveness, a million miles away from Mr Mathers' diatribes. The standout tracks are “Don't Ever Give Up, a song written to a single parent whose child has been kidnapped and a boy who has been sexually abused by an uncle; and “We Gon A Make It, written from the perspective of a teenager recalling his parents' divorce, and the strength he finds through faith in Christ. A tad derivative but let down only by the unnecessary inclusion of the silly “Will You Go Out With Me, the album is reminiscent of Toby Mac's latest effort (no surprise since Collins and Stewart appeared on that project as well) whilst straying at times into Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock territory.
